Nifty & Bank Nifty Outlook for September 4: Bearish Friday Setup, Key Support & Resistance Levels
The Nifty 50 closed at 23,874, down 41 points (-0.17%), as selling pressure remained visible despite an initial gap-up attempt. The market failed to sustain higher levels, raising concerns about further downside in Friday’s session.
The latest India-Iran developments and Marco Rubio’s warning that “no country should help” could add to geopolitical uncertainty. At the same time, crude oil prices are moving toward the $100 mark, creating another risk factor for the Indian equity market.
With the rupee under continued depreciation pressure, traders should remain cautious about a possible breakdown below the crucial 24,000 level.
Nifty 50 Outlook: Bearish Below 24,000
Nifty attempted to move higher but failed to sustain the gap-up move and eventually closed in negative territory. This failure to hold higher levels suggests that sellers continue to dominate the short-term trend.
After two consecutive sessions of FII buying, foreign investors again moved into the selling phase yesterday. Continued FII selling, rupee depreciation and rising crude oil prices could increase pressure on the Nifty.
For Friday, traders should closely watch the 24,000 psychological level. A sustained move below this zone could accelerate selling pressure toward the next support levels.
Nifty 50 Support & Resistance
Nifty Market Bias: Bearish - Sell on Rally
A decisive break below 23,700 could open the door toward the 23,300 zone, while a strong recovery above 24,000 would be required to reduce the immediate bearish pressure.
Bank Nifty Outlook: Selling Pressure After Gap-Up
The Bank Nifty closed at 57,381, gaining 209 points (+0.36%). However, the index faced selling pressure after opening with a significant gap-up and failed to maintain its higher levels.
Bank Nifty is now approaching an important short-term resistance zone. If the index fails to sustain above this area, another round of selling could emerge.
The weekly SMA curve has broken below the RSI indicator, indicating weakening momentum and raising the possibility of further downside in the banking index.
Bank Nifty Support & Resistance
Bank Nifty Market Bias: Bearish - Sell on Rally
A rejection near 57,750 could trigger renewed selling toward 57,000 and potentially 56,650. Traders should watch price action closely around these levels before taking fresh positions.
Friday Market Outlook: Stay Cautious on the Downside
The combination of rupee depreciation, FII selling, crude oil moving toward $100 and geopolitical uncertainty could keep the Indian market under pressure.
Nifty’s inability to sustain the gap-up move and the potential breakdown below 24,000 remain key warning signals. Bank Nifty also needs to overcome 57,750 to invalidate the immediate bearish setup.
For Friday, the broader strategy remains “Sell on Rally” until Nifty and Bank Nifty reclaim their respective resistance zones with strong momentum.
Key Levels to Watch

Bank Nifty:
